Abstract

This study aims to explore philanthropic practices in Aceh, Indonesia, and their role in fostering social awareness among citizens, with a particular focus on civil society organizations. Indonesia consistently ranks as one of the most generous countries globally, yet issues such as social inequality and apathy remain. This study identifies the need to strengthen philanthropic practices to address social problems and promote social justice. The research objectives include identifying models of philanthropic movements in Aceh, understanding the challenges they face in fostering social care, and examining the involvement of government entities in supporting these philanthropic efforts. Using a qualitative research approach, this study employs a case study design. Data collection methods include observation, in-depth interviews with project owners, volunteers, donors, and beneficiaries, as well as documentation. This study will analyze the collected data using descriptive qualitative methods, with a focus on data reduction, display, and verification through source and technique triangulation. These findings are expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of how philanthropy can serve as a catalyst for social change, strengthen community solidarity, and improve social welfare in Aceh, ultimately fostering a more caring and inclusive society.
