Author Guidelines

Manucsript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the MICOHEDMED Conference Proceedings Online Journal System (OJS). Authors should click the "Make Submission" menu to register, log in, and complete the online submission process (see video submission tutorial).

Manuscript (s) submitted by email or through any other platform will not be considered for review.

Types of Submission

Proceedings of Malikussaleh International Conference on Health and Disaster Medicine (MICOHEDMED) accept only Original Research reporting findings from empirical research that provide important and novel contributions to the fields of health, medicine, and disaster management. In that case, this is based on the merit set by the conference organizers. 

These are articles with findings from empirical research that generate important and novel insights for diverse authors interested in health, medicine, and disaster management. Articles should follow the basic structure of abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, and tables and figures as appropriate. We welcome submissions that use diverse research methodologies including quantitative and/or qualitative. Original research will be reviewed based on the strength of the data in the study, the rigour of the analysis, and the novelty and usefulness of the findings.

General

Use the template as provided. 

• Do not include page numbers, headers or footers. 
• Do not change the layout and margins of the Word template (4.40 cm/Bottom: 4.40 cm/Left: 4.40 cm/Right: 4.40 cm). 
• Use a spell-checker and proof-read your manuscript before submitting.
• Please note note that the manuscript submitted to Atlantis Press is considered as final and no changes can be made in the later stages.

The manuscript must consist of these aspects:

• FRONT MATTER: title, authors and affiliations, abstract, keyword
• MAIN CONTENT: body, references and citations
• BACK MATTER: references, appendices or supplementary materials (if any), acknowledgment (if any), declaration of conflict of interest (if any)

FRONT MATTER

Title

• Capitalize the manuscript title is in upper lower case (APA Style). 
• Capitalize the first letter of each word including Nouns, verbs (including linking verbs), adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, and all words of four letters or more.
• Other words including short (i.e., three letters or fewer) conjunctions, short prepositions such as “for”, “and”, “or” are lower case.
• Correct example: Texturization of Monocrystalline Silicon Wafers. 
• Wrong example: TEXTURIZATION OF MONOCRYSTALLINE SILICONE WAFERS.
• Correct any spelling errors. 
• If there is a subtitle, place it below the title but in a smaller font size.

Authors and Affiliations

• Enter all authors’ first name and surname and follow the “first name last name” format without any punctuation.
• If the author has no last name, then repeat the first name e.g. “Abyasa” => “Abyasa Abyasa”. (Note: Unfortunately, Google Scholar does not properly index publications with authors without a last name).
• Mark the corresponding author by adding an asterisk (“*”) after their name.
• Provide an email address for the corresponding author (mandatory).
• Provide the affiliations for all authors with department name, [division], institution/affiliated university, city, country.
• Example: Sport Cancer Laboratory EA4670, Luminy Campus, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France.
• Add the affiliation identifier (e.g. 1,2,3) in superscript to the matching author and affiliation in the correct order.
• Please note that the department name and other affiliation details should be provided in English. 

Abstract

The abstract should be written in around 200-350 words in a single paragraph without repeating the title under the abstract heading. Provide a complete and correct abstract summarising your work. Abstracts are mandatory. 

Keyword

• Provide keywords capturing the main ideas of your manuscript. Keywords are mandatory. 
• Separate the keywords with a comma (“,”).
• A minimum of at least 3 keywords should be provided.

MAIN CONTENT

Body

• All heading should be appropriately nested.
• All headings should be numbered in a consistent way (e.g. 1.1 & 1.1.1 & 1.1.1.1, etc.) in order to differentiate the headings.
• Only 1st level heading should be in upper case (e.g. “1. INTRODUCTION”). 
• All other headings are in upper-lower-case, i.e., the same style of the manuscript title (e.g. “2.3. Analysis of Financial Metrics”).
• Do not jump levels of headings - e.g. do not include a 3rd level heading right after a 1st level heading • Ensure that the heading and at least 2 lines of content are displayed on the same page (i.e. avoid “orphans” and “widows”).

Reference and Citations

• Every reference must be cited in the text.
• Citations should be formatted consistently in line with conference organizer guidelines (if any) Lists, Tables, Figures. 
• Use the standard list styles.
• Try to place any table and figures close to where it is cited and used.
• All figures and tables must be numbered in a sequential order and they must have a caption.
• The caption must include the number of the figure or table.
• Place the caption close to that figure or table and on the same page. 
• Ensure that no text or other parts of the manuscript are hidden behind a table, list, or figure.
• Tables must be included as Word or LaTeX tables in an editable format – they must not be included as pictures or screenshots.

BACK MATTER

References

Authors must use the Vancouver referencing style for all citations and references. In-text citations should be presented using Arabic numerals in square brackets, for example [1], [2], or [1,2] for multiple references. References must be numbered consecutively according to the order of their first appearance in the manuscript, and the same reference number should be used whenever the source is cited again. The reference list should be arranged numerically in the same order as the in-text citations.

• Include the references at the end of the manuscript.
• The references must be formatted in a consistent style within the manuscript (e.g. use the standard style as outlined in the template or follow the guidelines by the conference organisers).
• All references must be in Roman script.

Acknowledgment

Authors may elaborate this section by providing information regarding their source of funding, the people or organization that assist the research procedure, and if any, the promoter of research who provide translation, proofreading, additional expert opinion, and support prior to publication on the conference.

Supplementary Materials or Appendices

This section depends much on the merit of each conference organizer. However, the insertion of images taken from software, figures, tables, direct documentation, or images from specific sources must follow the prerequisite issued by the Proceedings of Malikussaleh International Conference on Health and Disaster Medicine (MICOHEDMED) that is provided on the official template. Information regarding the selected software must be provided as well.

Conflict of Interest

Prior to the publication of the conference, all manuscripts must declare any circumstances or situations that may insinuate conflict of interest which can be imposed to a possible academic or legal dispute. If there is no conflict of interest, simply state so in brevity.
