Conference Background

Aceh Province is located at the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, bordering the Indian Ocean and positioned along active tectonic plate boundaries, which increases its exposure to seismic activity, tsunamis, and climate-related hazards such as flooding, landslides, and other natural hazards.

On November 26, 2025, Aceh was hit by catastrophic floods and landslides resulting in substantial socio-economic losses, environmental degradation, population displacement, and increased public health risks. Hence, we aim to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue that integrates Aceh’s experiences from scientific perspectives.

In response to this context, the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Malikussaleh will host the 3rd Malikussaleh International Conference on Health and Disaster Medicine (MICOHEDMED) 2026 in North Aceh, Indonesia. Hence, we invite experts, scholars, researchers, policymakers, and interest holders to participate in our conference. 

The objectives of this conference: a) to foster dialogue among experts, scholars, researchers, policymakers, and interest holders; b) to integrate local disaster experiences with local and global scientific perspectives; c) to disseminate recent research findings and innovations in health, medicine, and disaster management; d) to promote evidence-based policies and strengthen resilient health systems; and e) to strengthen sustainable partnerships and establish collaborative networks. 

The MICOHEDMED 2026 Proceeding

MICOHEDMED 2026 Proceeding is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific proceeding that focuses on advancing sustainable collaboration in health, medicine, and disaster management for a resilient society. This proceeding publishes original research articles and clearly describes their scholarly contribution during the conference event. 

Focus and Scope

This proceeding covers a comprehensive range of topics including health, medicine, and disaster management, but not limited to:

  1. Disaster medicine and management
  2. Socio-economic, cultural, community and local wisdom in disaster management
  3. Public health and global health 
  4. Environmental health, climate change, and planetary health
  5. Mental health and psychosocial support in crisis 
  6. Clinical medicine, biomedical sciences, and pharmacy
  7. Innovation, technology, and digital in health, medicine, and disaster management
  8. Medical education, social science, bioethics, and interprofessional collaboration
  9. Other relevant topics in health, medicine, and disaster management

Selected articles will be published at the Advances in Health Sciences Research (AHSR) by Atlantis Press and be DOI and indexed in https://www.atlantis-press.com/proceedings/series/ahsr/abstracting-and-indexing. Atlantis Press applies the copyright policy defined in the Creative Commons licence number 4 (attribution, non-commercial), meaning that no copyright transfer is required from the authors.
